This is a spoken guide to the Mental Health page at APIS Clinic. Anxiety, low mood, burnout, sleep problems and emotional overwhelm rarely arrive on their own. At APIS Clinic we offer specialist psychiatric assessment for adults and young people aged 16+, with particular experience in how mental health interacts with ADHD, autism and AuDHD.
Mental health assessment at APIS. What we assess. Anxiety and panic, depression and low mood, burnout, stress, sleep difficulties, emotional dysregulation, and the mental health effects of long-standing, unrecognised neurodevelopmental differences.
Why the overlap matters. Attention problems can come from anxiety. Low mood can come from years of masking.
Emotional intensity can be ADHD, trauma, hormones, or all three. A careful assessment looks at the whole pattern before deciding what will help. Experiences you may recognise.
Persistent worry, tension or panic. Low mood, loss of enjoyment or motivation. Burnout, exhaustion and feeling constantly behind.
Sleep that does not restore you. Emotional reactions that feel bigger or faster than the situation. Difficulty concentrating or making decisions.
Feeling that treatment for anxiety or depression “never quite worked”. Stress from masking, overwhelm or sensory load. Recognising yourself here does not mean something is wrong with you.
It means it may be worth talking to a specialist, and we can help. Your assessment pathway. A clear, predictable pathway from first contact to ongoing support.
Step 1. Screening call & information. A friendly first conversation about what has brought you here.
Step 2. Questionnaires & objective tests. Completed in one place before your appointment, with objective measures where appropriate.
Step 3. Clinical assessment and conceptualisation. A specialist explores your story, history and current functioning.
Step 4. Feedback and report. Clear findings explained in plain English, with a written report.
Step 5. Support plan and next steps. Personalised recommendations built with you.
Treatment & support. Recommendations are personalised and may include:. A clear formulation that explains the pattern, not just a label.
Medication discussion or review where clinically appropriate. Therapy recommendations and signposting. Sleep, routine and lifestyle strategies.
Assessment of ADHD, autism or AuDHD where relevant. Liaison with your GP, with your consent. APIS Clinic is not an emergency or crisis service.
If you feel at immediate risk, please contact emergency services, NHS 111, your GP or your local crisis team, or attend A&E. Your care team. You will be supported by clinicians experienced in ADHD, autism, AuDHD and mental health.
We take time to understand your story, explain our thinking clearly, and build recommendations with you. That is the end of this guide. The full text is on this page, and you can book an appointment or send an enquiry from here whenever you are ready.

Mental Health: your questions answered
Is APIS Clinic an emergency or crisis service?
No. APIS Clinic is not an emergency or crisis service. If you feel at immediate risk, or you are worried about someone’s immediate safety, please contact emergency services (999), NHS 111, your GP, your local crisis team, or attend A&E.
Can I be assessed for mental health and ADHD at the same time?
Yes. Many people have overlapping difficulties. During the screening call we discuss which pathway fits best, and where relevant we consider ADHD, autism or AuDHD alongside mental health within one formulation.
Do you prescribe medication?
Medication may be discussed and reviewed where clinically appropriate, with suitable checks, discussion of benefits and risks, and ongoing review. Where prescribing is required we explain the process, including any partner clinic pathway, before you commit.
